In the second chapter of "HBR Guide to Generative AI for Managers" - the concept of using gen AI either as a Co-Pilot or Co-Thinker is introduced. The Co-Pilot application is easy to identify - ask it to perform tasks or amalgamate simple information and it spits out what you need faster than you could ever dream of doing it yourself.
The Co-Thinker application is the more interesting and transformative - wherein you:
1) Assign a role to gen AI
2) Define the setting (who is taking part in the conversation)
3) Outline the dialogue
4) Create a prompt
In this way, gen AI assists you in thinking through various personas and points of view. Gen AI becomes a challenger of your ideas and points of view.
Personally, I think this is incredibly strategic - gen AI while defined as "artifical intelligence", I view is as "Amalgamated Intelligence" since it has the ability to scan and pull relevant information from millions of sources in seconds.
Would you use gen AI as a persona to challenge your work?
